LAR.comBE's Wine Catablog is a place to capture the wines I've tasted. It's mainly self-serving to help remember what wines I've bought and liked in the past, and what is currently sitting in my collection. If you've enjoyed any of the wines listed I encourage you to share your experience in the comments. Trying to find something? Use the TAGS on the left, or the new Search function. NEW! Nose: Blackcurrant and dusty chocolate Palate: Bright intense with medium to full body. Fine tannin and lingering finish. Probably best with food due to bright acidity. Out of 10: 7 Value: Good
Purchase: ~$20 from Cellar Door Nose: Jammy bouquet, candy floss. Palate: Fruity initial sweetness then a peach ice tea (likely due to age) and marmalade stickiness. Fresh acid to finish. Out of 10: 8 Value: Good
Purchase: $9.99 from GetWinesDirect Nose: Dark fruits and oak Palate: Big rich and fresh fruit driven wine. Chocolate and soft tannins. The wine by which all other young Shiraz must compete. My favourite. Out of 10: 10 Value: Excellent
Purchase: $7.50 from Crackawines Nose: Pepper pungency and eucalyptus Palate: Showing cooler climate characters this wine begins with quite a dry and savoury flavour profile, but develops a fruity richness and leaves you with lingering chocolate. Out of 10: 7 Value: Good
Purchase: $11 from Crackawines Nose: Savoury and sour, like salami and olives. Palate: What a backflip! Sweet cherry prevails. Gritty tannins with the sweetness of American oak in the middle palate and finish. An intensely flavoured wine that strikes me as gamey. Out of 10: 7 Value: Excellent
Nose: Cherry chocolate, delightfully fragrant and sweet Palate: Medium on palate some tannic spice. Short blackberry intensity then long mellow finish Out of 10: 7 Purchase: $12.50 from Crackawines
