LAR.comBE's Wine Catablog is a place to capture the wines I've tasted. It's mainly self-serving to help remember what wines I've bought and liked in the past, and what is currently sitting in my collection. If you've enjoyed any of the wines listed I encourage you to share your experience in the comments. Trying to find something? Use the TAGS on the left, or the new Search function. NEW! Purchase: $13.99 from Crackawines Nose: Nice bouquet - menthol, licorice. Palate: Savoury spice, velvety mouthfeel. Tannins are well integrated. Dry dark cherry finish. Out of 10: 7 Value: Good
Purchase: $9.99 from Crackawines Nose: Musky earthiness followed by delightful cherry and anise sweetness. Palate: Luscious mouthfeel with a medium body. Nice balance of black cherry / mulberry fruit and light oak. A textural wine with a bit of Shiraz bight upfront and soft Merlot to lengthen the finish. The Sangiovese is the hero here for pulling it all together. Out of 10: 9 Value: Excellent
Purchase: $10.90 from Skye Cellars Nose: Faint plum and pepper spice perfume. Palate: The Shiraz spicy bite is there but seems watered down to a medium body only. Some chocolatey notes with tannins that will likely see it cellar a few more years. Out of 10: 7 Value: Excellent
Purchase: $10.99 from Crackawines Nose: A promising fruity sweetness. Palate: A peppery bite, which turns quite bitter and savoury. Drinkable, but not enjoyable. Sour finish. Too much stem in the crush maybe? Out of 10: 3 Value: OK
